And Howe!
Photographs by Graham Howe, 1968-2008
September 26, 2009 - January 02, 2010
Opening Reception: September 26, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Since founding the company Curatorial Assistance in the 1980s, Graham Howe hasn’t exhibited his own photography. Earlier, he had photographed landscapes with a sly humor that undermined the way we human beings look at nature. He intervened in the landscape in order to make us aware of the abstractions we impose upon it. By 1980, he was doing studio set-ups whose wittiness was the same mix of a street photographer’s eye with a philosopher’s skepticism. Though he quit showing his work because he felt it would conflict with his new profession as a curator, he didn’t quit doing the work. Isn’t it time now, after twenty years, to take another look at this once provocative and still active career in photography? And Howe!
